Football is one of the world’s most popular and favorite sport that pumps gushing adrenaline of excitement all around the world, it’s also known as Soccer in North America and Australia. Football was formerly played by Europe, China and Central America, afterwards England introduced us the advanced football which grew and became the modern football played to this day.

Football has a lot of health benefits as it requires regular exercise and training which helps the players with increasing muscles and bone strength, it reduces body fat, build’s stamina and speed, improves heart health and normal blood pressure.

Football teaches us the importance of unity, teamwork and leadership. Players gets to know the importance of the team and how the contribution can be made towards their success. Therefore, trusting and understanding your teammates is crucial as the success depends on every individual player. The success of the team also depends on the leader, it’s his duty to make the entire team strong in collaboration and coordination, if even one player fails the entire team is affected.

Football is played by 11 players including the 1 goalkeeper per team, the match takes 90 minutes with two 45-minute halves, there is a 15-minute break in the middle of the game known as half time. Furthermore, as the name represents football is the combination of two words “foot” and “ball”, which means that players can only use their foot to maneuver the ball to the opposing team’s goal.

The players are not allowed to touch the ball with their hands, with the exception of the goalkeeper as he is allowed to do so within the 18-yard box. Moreover, the game is controlled by a referee, he has two assistant referees which helps him out. The referee gives the free kicks and penalties in case of any misconducts or fouls and keeps track of time.

To win the game the team have to score more goals than the opposing team, if the goals are equal after 90 minutes there are two possibilities, they can go for extra 30 minutes and if even then the number of goals is equal then a penalty shootout takes place which then decides the winning team.

There are certain rules of football that has to be followed. The football ground should be made of natural or artificial grass, the out of bound boundary should be marked in a rectangular shape and the pitch size should be within 100-130 yards long and 50-100 yards wide. No pushing or grinding is allowed, otherwise the serious foul will be punished with a yellow or red card.

Football could either be a hobby, a sport or an obsession. It has the largest fan base all over the world, it has been played for thousands of years. However, formerly it was played with a similar version of football but over the years England has introduced us to the modern football. It also helps to reduce stress and charge the players with energy which is good for their physical and mental health.
