Following is a personal essay about friendship. It talks about its concept and the different characteristics of this link so necessary to every human being.

Friendship, a pure and blue love

Friendship is a soul that lives in two bodies; A heart that lives in two souls.Essay on Friendship

Aristotle

The phrase of the famous Greek philosopher shows us how a higher concept he had about a friendship. In his work Ethics to Nicómaco, he dedicates two parts of it entirely to talk about the characteristics of a friendly relationship.

Aristotle, in this work, states:

Friends need each other in prosperity and misfortune, since the unfortunate need benefactors, and the lucky people to do well. It is absurd to make the man blessed lonely, because no one would want to possess all things on condition of being alone. Therefore, the happy man needs friends

The dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy defines friendship in the following terms:

Personal affection, pure and selfless, shared with another person, born and strengthened with the deal.

To say that it is an affection implies that it is feeling, it is an inner strength or sympathy that leads us to interact, in a special way, with a person.

Pure means that it is without spots. It is a kind of love that must be “selfless.” If we only want a friend “for some reason” or interest, the true essence of the love of friendship is being denatured.

It is clear that friendship is an interpersonal relationship. As it is clearly expressed in the definition “it is strengthened with the deal”. That means that for friendship to emerge and be maintained, it must be a two-part job.

If only one of them puts the necessary, and the other does not, then that friendship is on the way to disappear.

Good treatment, caring for the other, asking about his life, selflessly, is essential in any friendship.

Friendship. A “blue” love relationship

Any relationship between two people requires reciprocal delivery. Delivering selflessly love also receives love. That applies to both couples and friendships.

We could call the more traditional love, that of couples, as a “red” love. Because red represents fire, it is a striking color and always used to refer to passion.

Therefore, the passionate love of a couple is a red love. Intense, deep

The friendship of what color is it? The love we show our friends is in blue.

Why blue? How is it different from red? The blue color represents a more sublime, not intense and passionate feeling like the red love that is a fire that arises naturally in the relationships of couples. But although it does not have that intensity, it has a light and a purity of its own that does not make it less, but very different.

Blue love and red love are not contrary. They are two different types of love, therefore, each one has his own identity, his demands, and his demonstrations.

Friendship in difficulties

Rabindranath Tagore said

True friendship is like phosphorescence, it shines better when everything has darkened.

The famous Indian writer’s phrase refers to the fact that it is always more comfortable and easier to accompany our friends in joyful moments. However, can that be called a true friendship? Is there a blue love among these people? Probably not.

In certain aspects, a true relationship of friends is like a marriage. The bride and groom, when they get married, swear to love each other in both fortune and bad times.

Likewise, although in friendship there is no similar oath, true friends show that support in all situations of life, not only in good ones.
