Imperialism manifests itself when a country of great political and economic power extends its authority and control over other nations. In the case of Latin America, the United States has demonstrated its ability to manipulate significant changes in different fields. This brings with it a series of problems, which in this essay I will try to analyze in order to reveal its causes and possible solutions.
It is clear that the United States government will never allow a revolution like the Cuban to be repeated. This has been reflected in several resolutions by the US House of Representatives, where it has been stipulated that, if necessary, your country will intervene militarily in Latin America. There are also intentions to create an Inter-American Military Force, something that would seek to preserve a colonial domain. The consequences of these measures are manifested in ideological restrictions, increasing the difficulties and sacrifices of any group that opposes them.
Understanding the national reality of the affected country is essential, only in this way can we be clear about the interests that are in conflict, which generate different types of reactions in each social class. The national and international forces that are involved in politics are responsible for maintaining this climate of artificial peace, which is backed by US military power. This prevents a true revolution from being possible since the number of limitations imposed overcomes the obstacles of objective realities.
All Latin American countries have a strong presence of oligarchy in their policy, exploiting its inhabitants based on an elitist development. People with fewer resources cannot avoid being captivated by the ideologues that appear in the mass media since they are victims of a poor education that is taught by a system that should keep them ignorant and manipulable. In this way, economic and social liberation is hindered at different levels.
In Venezuela, for example, a revolutionary transformation is necessary, which aims to end underdevelopment, backwardness, and misery. It is here that two discrepant positions appear that look for this same solution. In the first place is the progressive reform, which basically defends the peaceful struggle and democratic processes. On the other hand is the popular insurrection, arguing that these problems can only be solved through a challenging attitude that combines all forms of struggle.
Although American imperialism hardly loses political and economic power in the coming decades, the need for a revolution in Latin American countries is evident. I am not talking about armed uprisings or responding with the same violence and intolerance, but about raising future generations for a substantial change in their attitude. Then it will be inevitable that avant-garde groups appear based on sustainable development.
