Pollution is altering many habitats around the world, this has as a consequence the death of different species, animals and plants, which are brought to its progressive extinction. Likewise, it causes a generalized deterioration in the quality of life of populations with fewer resources. For these reasons, it is important to understand what measures can be taken to mitigate their effects.
Pollution levels increase every day and the biggest cause of this is the human being, something really unfortunate because it is assumed that by the intelligence we have we should be unable to destroy our own planet. Being in the XXI silgo, things have not improved, they have even developed new chemical materials and processes that use them that damage the environment even more.
Among the most common pollutants is the excess solid waste that accumulates in urban environments. Each person, especially those who live in large cities, contributes a significant amount of this type of waste. Which, in most cases, end up affecting the environment. The best way to prevent this is through recycling since it promotes the reuse of materials instead of abandonment in public places.
The release of carbon dioxide by cars and factories is another cause of environmental pollution. In addition, it is one of the main reasons for global warming, which has certainly alarming consequences, such as sudden changes in climate, the melting of glaciers and the presence of extreme weather events. One way to prevent this from happening is through the awareness of the new generations so that they develop a more responsible view on the subject.
Another factor to be analyzed is overpopulation, which triggers the aforementioned problems. But that also causes the eradication of large green areas, unscrupulous dumping of waste in rivers and seas, the uncontrolled use of farmland and increased industrial activity that increases the emissions of toxic gases.
What can the human being do to mitigate the effects of environmental pollution? First, deforestation must be avoided, since trees are the only source of oxygen the planet has. Recycling is also a very valuable process, improving the quality of life in cities. Also, the fact of polluting the waters is inadmissible, since they represent an essential element for all living beings. While educational institutions should provide courses that help change the mentality of people in pursuit of sustainable development.
